袋町小学校正門 |
袋町小学校は、太田川の河口にできた三角州のうち、京橋川と元安川にはさまれた中州の中央に位置しています。学区の北側には、西国街道（現在の本通商店街）が東西にのび、昔から広島市の繁華街になっています。また、学区内には、世界遺産の原爆ドームをはじめ、被爆建物も数多く残っています。
Fukuromachi Municipal Elementary School lies centrally on land bounded
by Kyobashigawa and Motoyasugawa Rivers that form part of the Otagawa River
delta. Hondori shopping street which has long been the bustling center
of Hiroshima city, runs east-west along the northern perimeter of the school.
Also, World Heritage listed A-Bomb Dome is the first of many relics of
the Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima that remain in the area.
本校では、平成１４年度から教科担任制を導入しています。また、平成１９年度より、広島市教育委員会「ひろしま型カリキュラム」（言語・数理運用科）の研究開発の指定を受け、「言語・数理運用科」の研究に取り組んでいます。
Since 2002, our school has been using a system where students learn from
a teacher who is specialized to teach an individual subject. Fukuromachi
Municipal Elementary School has also been designated by the Hiroshima Board
of Education to participate in the Research and Development of the language,
and mathematical principles fields of the Hiroshima -model curriculum since
2007. |

袋町小学校平和資料館は、旧校舎を改装して造られています。
被爆した「西校舎」の一部を資料館として保存し、壁に残された「伝言」や被爆当時の炭化した木れんが、爆風で歪んだ地下の鉄製のドア等を永久に保存しています。 |
A section of the old school building's west wing that
was damaged in the dropping of the A-bomb has been preserved and converted into
the current Fukuromachi Elementary School Peace Museum and reference library.
Wooden blocks that were carbonized and a steel door that was warped in the
bomb-blast, along with messages that were left on the walls in the aftermath of
the blast, remain persevered in the museum.
